The Silver Lake Elementary students celebrated Dr. Seuss’s birthday with a weeklong extravaganza of activities. Each day was based on one of the books written by Dr. Seuss.
On Monday they celebrated by reading the book My Many Colored Days. Each class was assigned a color for a color war and participated in some coloring activities. On Tuesday they read The Foot Book and wore their craziest socks with mismatched shoes. A shoe race at the end of the day was a hit with all the kids. Wednesday’s book was I’m Not Going to Get Out of Bed Today with nothing less than their favorite pajamas. The students participated in a read-a-thon that afternoon. On Thursday they wrapped up the week by celebrating what makes Silver Lake so special. The students proudly wore their school colors, read the book Hooray For Diffendoofer Day, and played “Pin the Eyebrows on Mr. Lowe”.
