Silver Lake Receives Governor's Award

Silver Lake Public Schools received a “2008 Governor’s Education Initiative Award” at the Nebraska Association of School Boards’ Conference, recently held in Omaha Nebraska. The framed certificate was signed and presented by Governor Dave Heineman.
The award is presented to Nebraska schools that are recognized for outstanding achievement in development and implementation of Parental Involvement Programs. Superintendent Walburn submitted a narrative application, outlining the multiple methods that the district employs to communicate with parents and involve parents in the school and the education of their children.
Board members attending the awards ceremony included: Jeff Grabill, Randy Sorensen, Lenny Trausch, Jaon Fisher, and Kathy Riese. The award was received by Superintendent Walburn from Governor Heineman.
