Silver Lake POSSE

Organization Date:  March 4, 1997

POSSE – Parents Offering Student Support in Education

In the past 12 years, the POSSE has helped sponsor bus trips, worked in the concession stands, served band-chorus conference suppers, held cake raffles and welcome-back-to-school suppers, taco feeds and macho nacho nights.

POSSE has sold coats, mascots, book socks and window clings.  They have headed up the selling of state tournament t-shirts and sweatshirts.  They have also treated the teachers to a fruit basket annually during teacher appreciation week.

With money raised, POSSE has donated or helped purchase sound systems books for reading honor roll pop.  Accelerated Reader (AR) prizes and lanyards, stage curtains, AR books and tests, computer charging stations, popcorn machines, Post-Prom prizes for the summer reading programs, bough educational games for the elementary.

We welcome and encourage all parents of the Silver Lake students to join the POSSE.  We are very active providing for the elementary and high school buildings.

To date, the POSSE has donated over $8,000 back to the Silver Lake Public Schools.
