College
Which One Is Right For Me?

October has flown by, and so is the senior year for many of my Silver Lake classmates. College representatives from all over the state and even some from surrounding states have visited the halls of Silver Lake to try and get students interested in their school. It is a big decision, but, unfortunately, students are only given so little time to decide where they will be spending at least the next two to four years of their lives, deciding on a major that they are expected to spend the rest of their life doing.
What are you suppose to look for when
deciding what school is right for you? Well, it’s important to make
sure the school you’re interested in has a good program for
whatever it is you want to study. Secondly, you need to decide if
you’d like to go far away or stay close to home. Lastly, and maybe
the most important, is the cost. How much are you (or your parents)
willing to spend on your education? These are all very important
decisions, and your parents and guidance counselor can help you
find the answers to all of them.
Don’t be overwhelmed by all of the decisions you’ll be expected to
make within the next few months. For me, the trick is to simply
visit the colleges I think would be a good fit for me and base my
decision off of that. Yes, it is a big deal, but if you decide
you’re unhappy at the college you chose to attend, transferring is
always an option.
So, just relax, take a breath, and let everything fall into place. I do not believe that you have to know what you want to do with the rest of your life, but I do believe you just have to decide where you’d like to start your journey in life as a senior. Are YOU ready for the challenge?
