Silver Lake Play Puts Forth Best Efforts at Conference

by Lacoln Strasburg

November 19, 2009

The Silver Lake play cast traveled to Deshler on Wednesday, November 18th to show off what they have been practicing for since the beginning of September. The night before the drama team had put on a spectacular show at the community dinner theater; however, the next day did not go as well as hoped. The cast did not perform to the level that they had the night before. After the performance, everyone had a little disappointment, wishing they hadn’t missed a line, and so on. However, the judge’s critiques helped the cast work on specific parts and realize even that even though they may have had a few shortfallings, they did many things well. In the end, Silver Lake claimed sixth place out of ten schools in the conference.

To prepare for districts, which were scheduled for November 30th, the cast and crew hopped right back on the stage and got to work, using some suggestions from the judges, to perform their production to the best of their ability. After competing in districts, the cast landed a 6th place finish out of 9 schools competing. Play director Mrs. Overturf commented on the district performance by saying, “Congratulations to the cast of "Not-So-Grimm Tales" for a great performance at Districts! On my score sheet, they were number one!”
