Students in K-12 in the United States were asked to draw a futuristic rocket. They were to collect l0,000 drawings to be published in a book in March. Requirements were to submit at least 20 drawings and have parent’s permission to participate. Silver Lake submitted 36 drawings in grades 2, 3, 4 and 6. If you met the requirements of the contest, your school was put into a drawing to receive $5,000 from Microsoft. There were only be 8 schools in the United States who received the grand prize, and SILVER LAKE WAS ONE OF THE 8!
In addition to winning the grand prize, Silver Lake will receive a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the books. The contest judges will also be going through the rocket drawings and choosing some to be made into a 3-dimensional model. Those winners will be announced at a later date. Congratulations to our students who took the time to get involved in this contest. We are very proud of you!
