Only the Strongest Mustang Will Survive

Silver Lake Vs. Meridian on Tuesday, January 5th

By Taylor Ehrman

January 13, 2010

The Lady Mustangs met the Meridian Mustangs for the second time this year. After a tough loss this past volleyball season against them, the ladies were ready to show them their basketball talent this new year. All of the hard work and practices over the break paid off when the Lady Mustangs came out with a 69-30 defeat of the Meridian Mustangs! This game gave all the players a chance to get some playing time.
"We struggled some in the first half with our half court offense and our shooting but played good defense to maintain a lead at half time.  The 2nd half we regain our focus and increased our intensity level.  I was very happy with the way we finished the game," says Coach Keith Crowe. To second Coach Crowe's statement, stats show that the girls scored a total of 45 points compared to Meridian scoring a total of 13 in the second half. Leading scorer of the game was Senior Cami Bruckman with a total of 17 points, 2 of which were 3-pointers. Following close behind was Junior Bailey Morris with a total of 14 points for the game, who had one hundred percent accuracy on her free throws for the night. Bailey also lead the team in steals with a total of 6 for the game and in assists, with a total of 5.
The Lady Mustangs next goal is up their record to a total of 9 wins and 0 losses, by defeating the Clay Center Wildcats at this Saturday's game. Good luck ladies!
