Wildcats Tamed by Mustangs
Silver Lake Girls Continue Their Winning Streak

On Saturday, January 9th, the Clay Center Wildcats traveled to Silver Lake for what they knew would be a tough competition going up against the undefeated Lady Mustangs.
On the girls’ side, the Lady Mustangs got off to a huge leap ahead of the Lady Wildcats. The first quarter ended with the Mustangs in the lead by the score of 19-5. In the second quarter, Silver Lake completely shut down Clay Center, not letting them score any points and outscoring them by 22 points. The Mustangs went into the locker-room leading the Wildcats 41-5. In the third and fourth quarters, the Mustangs kept their lead and dominated Clay Center outscoring them 31-24 in the second half, making the final score 72-29 in favor of the Mustangs.
The Silver Lake Mustangs truly won with a team effort, their leading scorers being Kayla Timm with 16 points, Cami Bruckman with 14, Bailey Morris with 11, Shelby Rupprecht with 8, Jenna Grabill with 7, Carmi Grigg and Mackenzie Skupa with 6, and Chloe Gibson with 4. Gibson racked up 6 total rebounds, while Bruckman, Morris, Grigg and Timm followed with 5, while Megan Jacobitz followed with 4. Morris lead the team in steals with 5 while Grabill had 4, followed by Timm with 3. The Mustangs are now 9-0 on the season, and will go up against Axtell on Tuesday, January 12th.
