Continuing their perfect season, the Lady ‘Stangs traveled to Harvard last Friday night to take on the Cardinals. The Cards came out strong to start out the first half and gave the Lady Mustangs something to fight for. But by the end of the game, the 'Stangs had secured a 21 point win. For the first quarter, both teams battled it out and ended the quarter all tied up at 11. The second quarter ended another stalemate with both sides putting up 11 more points and going into the half 22-22.
But the Lady ‘Stangs came out on fire the second half and were too much for the Cardinals to handle. In the third, the Mustangs threw up an impressive 21 points to put away the game compared to only 8 by Harvard. The Lady ‘Stangs finished the fourth out strong, ending out the game ahead by 21 for a score of 60-39.
Senior Cami Bruckman led the team, putting up 15 points and securing nine rebounds. Shelby Rupprecht and Kayla Timm also put up strong efforts, netting 12 points each. Other contributors were Chloe Gibson and Bailey Morris with 9 and 7 points, respectively.
After the game, Coach Keith Crowe commented, “We started the game flat and did not execute well in the first half. The second half we increased our intensity level and the shots started to fall. Overall, this type of game will help us to improve. We needed a game where we were tested later in the game. I was pleased with the way we played in the fourth quarter to pull away for the victory.”
