Mustangs Speech Team Competes At Hastings College

Second Meet of the Year Shows Few Participants

On Saturday, January 23rd, only three Mustangs were able to attend the Hastings College for the second speech meet of the year due to working conflicts and basketball games. Junior Andy Jones and freshman Nikki Blumenthal competed in entertainment speaking while sophomore Annie Wickham competed in poetry. The three Mustangs were accompanied to the meet by Speech Coach Ken Sovereign.

At 9 AM and again at noon, the three Mustangs competed in separate rounds of the meet. Unfortunately, none of the three made it to the final rounds, but the time waiting for the finalists to be announced was not time wasted as the competitors used this opportunity to make new friends and experiences while enjoying pizza, cookies and more ordered by the college. All in all, it was time well spent by the Mustangs.
