The Mustangs have had a great first half of the basketball season, and this seems to be continuing into the later half as well. The team recently defeated the Falcons of Wilcox/Hildreth and improved their record to 14 wins and zero losses on the season. The team only has one game left prior to beginning the Twin Valley Conference Tournament beginning on Monday, February 1st as the #1 seed.
Silver Lake made the trip to Wilcox on Tuesday, January 26th, and got off to a great start, with the score of the first quarter being 17 to 2. The Mustangs continued to handle the Falcons in quarters two and three, outscoring the Falcons, 13 to 7 and 10 to 9. Although the tempo was slowed in the fourth quarter, with the Falcons outscoring the Mustangs 12 to 13, the end result was in favor of the Mustangs, 52 to 31.
Top scorers for the Mustangs were junior Bailey Morris with 13 and senior Cami Bruckman with 12. Bruckman and classmate Chloe Gibson each tallied eight rebounds and senior Kayla Timm followed with six. Morris also contributed four steals throughout the game.
The Lady Mustangs have had a very successful season thus far, and are looking forward to achieving their next goal: winning the Twin Valley Conference Tournament for the third year in a row.
