Silver Lake Hosts Quiz Bowl Invite
Mustangs Go 4-0 for the Day!

Silver Lake High School hosted a Triangular Junior and Senior High Quiz Bowl on Wednesday, February 17th. Members competing for the High School division were: Keenan Danehey, Erin Plambeck, Seth Plambeck, Kevin Hall, Jennifer Mahoney and Captain Connor Hansen. The Mustangs took on Blue Hill in the first round with Keenan Danehey answering the first toss-up of the day. The Mustangs came together to answer the bonus correctly and put the team ahead of the Bobcats 15 to 0. Seth Plambeck then came through with a toss-up followed by another team bonus question to put the Mustangs ahead 30 to 5. Keenan Danehey answered two more toss-up questions, while Kevin Hall and Jennifer Mahoney each contributing one to win the game by a score of 60 to 15.
In round 2, Blue Hill defeated Red Cloud 30 to 5.
In the next round, the Mustangs defeated Red Cloud 50 to 15. Jennifer Mahoney, Seth Plambeck and Keenan Danehey each answered toss-up questions in this match.
In the round robin portion of the tournament, Silver Lake again met Blue Hill with Keenan answering six toss-up questions, while Kevin Hall and Seth Plambeck each answered one. The team got 2 bonus questions correct to win a close match by the score of 60 to 30.
Round 5 saw Blue Hill defeating Red Cloud 75 to 20.
In the final match of the day, Silver Lake beat Red Cloud 50 to 5. Keenan Danehey and Jennifer Mahoney each answered two toss-up questions while Seth Plambeck and Kevin Hall each answered one. The team also got two bonus questions correct.
Captain Connor Hansen summed up the day saying, “I think the team did very well, and it was a good way to get ready for Conference.”
The Mustang team ended up winning four matches for the day and will be competing March 17th in the Twin Valley Conference Quiz Bowl Meet at Franklin. Good luck, Quiz Team!
