The Silver Lake Elementary School had a Science Fair on Thursday, February 25th. Eleven students participated in the event held in Bladen.
Fourth grade inventors for the day were Wyatt Griess and Duella Odell. Wyatt’s Monster Sweeper was an invention where the kitchen floors could be swept with a remote control. Duella invented a pencil holder that would keep pencils from rolling to the back of the desk drawer. Both projects received purples.
In the fifth grade, Nicolle Hammer did an experiment with eggs while Brendan Reed had a project with an electric motor that was remote-controlled. Both of these entries received blue ribbons. Corey Conway did an experiment with varying heights of golf tees that received a purple.
Six students presented projects in the sixth grade. A red ribbon went to Quentin Journey’s project on Baseball Reaction Time. Ella Shaw tested orange juice and received a blue. Joslyn Grabill had a science project that tested different drinks and received a blue. Three purple ribbon winners were Morgan Stromer with Sound and Crystals, Syd Skupa with Soil and Plants and Cole Shurigar with a project on rockets.
Science teacher Diane Mahoney felt all of the students did a great job at the Science Fair. Congrats!
