Silver Lake Loses to Top Rated Shelton Team
Girls Reeling After 30-70 Loss

It was Tuesday, February 7th, 2012, when Silver Lake hosted the girls game against Shelton. Held at the high school in Roseland, the game didn't bring as many spectators as usual due to poor weather conditions.
The JV team was up first when all of the action started at around 6:15 PM, followed by the varsity. The results of the first quarter were 20-6, in favor of Shelton. Losing some confidence from the first quarter, the girls went into half-time trailing by the score of 41-11. The Lady Mustangs came back stronger but still didn't quite have what it took, as the end of the third quarter showed a score of 24-55. Finally, when the buzzer sounded the end of the game, the scoreboard read 30-70 in favor of Shelton.
The leader in the scoring department was Mackenzie Skupa, scoring a total of 15 points. Sydney Meyer also scored 5 for the team, with Josie Parr scored 4. Alissa Ehrman, Meghan Rockefeller and Jenna Thayer all added 2 each. Once again, Mackenzie Skupa swept the board with 10 total rebounds. Amy Trausch came up right behind with 7. Sydney Meyer and Kila Timm both had 3. Meghan Rockefeller, Stef Perez, and Jenna Thayer all had 2. Josie Parr, Samantha Fulk, and Nadine Lovejoy had one. Sydney Meyer and Amy Trausch had 2 assists. Meghan Rockefeller, Jenna Thayer, and Kila Timm each had one.
It was a tough loss but the girls did what they could against the 18-2 Shelton Bulldogs. After Tuesday, the girls' record stand at 5-12. Good luck to the girls and hope to see you Mustang fans at the next game!
