Costumes, Candy, and Jack-O-Lanterns

by Bailey Morris

November 02, 2009

When I think of Halloween I think of three things: costumes, candy, and Jack-O-Lanterns! The students at the elementary were given the opportunity to show their creativity as they decorated pumpkins to enter in the Annual FBLA Pumpkin Decorating Contest. The kids were divided into two age groups: Pre-Kindergarten through 2nd Grade, and 3rd Grade through 6th Grade. The FBLA officers judged the pumpkins based on those that were the funniest, the scariest, and the most original.

The students were also allowed to dress up and show off their costumes for Saturday. After a fun morning handing out candy and visiting the kids and teachers, the seven officers loaded up the van and headed back to the high school.

With basketball season around the corner and Christmas not too far away, FBLA is organizing free-throw contests for half times, and their annual “Secret Santa” party. Also, each year, a giving tree gift is given to both a boy and girl from our chapter, for children whose families are struggling financially during the holiday season.

The chapter continues to hold monthly breakfast meetings to arrange workers for upcoming events, and is open to ideas and communication for the good of the chapter!
