Mustangs Trample The Warriors

Mustangs Defeat Red Cloud 45-20

On Friday, January 20th the Mustangs took on the Red Cloud Warriors and added another win to their record, putting them at 3-10 on the regular season.  

After the first quarter, the Mustangs led by 10 with a score of 14-4.  The Mustangs held the Warriors scoreless in the second quarter and were up 26 to 4 at halftime. 

The third quarter was a repeat of the second, with the Mustangs holding the Warriors scoreless once again, and ending the third quarter 36 to 4.  When the final buzzer rang, the Mustangs added an easy "W" to their record by the score of 45 to 20. 

It was a very balanced scoring game with nine players getting their names in the books for points, ten for rebounds, and six for assists.  This game also tied the school record for the least amount of points allowed in a game.  The team also did tremendously well at the charity line, making 17 out of 20 free throws. 

Junior Cat Perez said summed up the game in a single sentence by stating, “We played well and our defense was great!”

The Mustangs next game will be on Friday, January 27th, when they host Lawrence/Nelson.  The conference tournament will begin for the Mustangs on Tuesday, January 31st, when they will play Blue Hill in the first round at Blue Hill at 7 PM.  The semifinals are on Friday, February 3rd at Kenesaw, with the consolation and championship games on Saturday, February 4th, also at Kenesaw.  GOOD LUCK, MUSTANGS!
