Parr Attends National Leadership Conference
Silver Lake Qualifies For Five Years Straight
July 04, 2012
Silver Lake freshman Josie Parr, along with FBLA sponsor Dana Epley, departed Roseland on Wednesday, June 27th, spending the night in Omaha before arriving at the airport at 4 AM the following morning of Thursday, June 28th.
After departing Omaha on the 28th, Silver Lake and nine other FBLA chapters from across the state, flew into Dallas before catching their final flight to San Antonio, where they would be staying at the Marriott River Center with all other Nebraska chapter members who had qualified for the national conference. Upon their arrival into San Antonio on Thursday, Parr and Epley visited the Mercado Straw Market and ate dinner at Mi Terra's Mexican Restaurant with the other Nebraska chapters, courtesy of National Travel Systems. A state meeting was held after the dinner with all chapters in attendance.
On Friday, June 29th, Parr and Epley visited Buckhorn and Texas Museum, as well as the Mission San Jose, via a bus with National Travel Systems, and all other state chapters. On this evening, the opening general session and campaign rallies were held for all FBLA chapters in the U.S.
Saturday, June 30th, found Parr in the testing center for her Word Processing event followed by leadership seminars, meetings and regional campaign rallies for the Mountain Plains region of FBLA.
On Sunday, July 1st, Parr and Epley headed to SeaWorld, experiencing the metro and public transportation, before attending another state meeting that evening.
Monday, July 2nd, was the final day of staying in the Marriott, and the two attended the regional voting and recognition session, and departed for Six Flags with several other chapters, before attending the Awards of Excellence program and social event for all chapters.
On Tuesday, July 3rd, all chapters boarded their busses to return home or be transported to the airport - depending on their flight time. Parr and Epley were rerouted and had the latest flight out, so they spent the day shopping and in the airport, before catching a 6 PM flight out of San Antonio, with a layover in Dallas, and returned to Omaha around midnight on the night of the 3rd.
Spending the final night in a hotel, the two returned to Silver Lake on the 4th of July, with another National Leadership Conference in the books. A huge thank you to the district and patrons for their support of the FBLA program and Josie as she competed at the national level.
