Junior High Boys Basketball Take On Shelton And Lawrence-Nelson

Kia Wengler

February 01, 2017

On Monday, January 23rd the junior high boys basketball team took on the Shelton Bulldogs at Shelton High School. The first game score was 24-7 as the Mustangs fought a hard game, but  couldn’t pull off the win. The second game the score was 12-6 with the Mustangs winning by 6 points. Canyen Jameson had to say, ”We need to work on boxing out; we used communication well, but we need to work on the plays.” Coach Pohl had to say, “We struggled to get good shots against Shelton, and when we did, we struggled to make them. The boys played hard but we need work on handling defensive pressure and putting our teammates in good situations.”

On Friday, January 27th the Mustangs took on the Lawrence-Nelson Raiders with a winning score of 21-16. The Raiders fought a hard battle, but ended up losing by 5 points.  Matthew Hansen said, “We need to work on communication and some of our plays.” Coach Pohl said, “We did a much better job of moving the basketball around and avoiding ball pressure than we did in our previous game. We were able to find the open guy and got some shots to fall. We still need to work on handling pressure and checking out on defense, but it was definitely a better all around effort by the boys.”
