Picking Up The Streets

Adrian Crumm

August 31, 2017

On August 28th, the Silver Lake FBLA and Student Council organizations had their first trash pickup of the year. They started off the night with hot dogs, and then all piled onto the bus to pick up two highways that the organizations are responsible for each year. For an hour everyone picked up trash in groups of two on both sides of Highway 74 and Roseland Road. They picked up several fast food bags and the most exciting find of the night was a Saint Joseph statue. All of the FBLA officers were required to attend and participate in the fun event. FBLA President Johnny Borgman said, “I feel like it went well and it generated some interest in FBLA throughout the school. Potential new members showed up at the event. I feel like we’ll have a strong FBLA team this year.” Student Council member and FBLA Treasurer Taran Hanson said, “I feel like we got a lot of stuff accomplished. I feel like it was a great team effort. It showed a lot of leadership. I feel like it was a great FBLA/ Student Council gathering to make the Earth a better place.” We hope to see you at the next trash pick up!
