High School Volleyball Ends Season at Districts With a Loss

Jenna Strampher

November 14, 2017

On Monday the 30th of October, the Lady Mustangs traveled to Adams Central to battle against Heartland-Lutheran for their first subdistrict game. The Mustangs were able to get a W for the first set but couldn’t pull off a win for the other three sets. The score for this last game was: Set 1: 25-18, Set 2: 22-25, Set 3: 17-25, and Set 4: 14-25. Quinn Kilmer lead the team in digs with 26 and in aces with three. Elizabeth Trausch had seven kills for the Mustangs, followed by Jaden Lewis with six. Abbie Skupa added three blocks to the Silver Lake stats and Makayla Dinkler lead assists with 15. Coach tenBensel commented on this years group of girls’ playing: “The one thing that they need is experience; we are a young team: our starters for the last games were two juniors, two sophomores and three freshmen! All of those girls will be back again next year, so I think this year they gained a lot of experience and can only build from there! At the beginning of the season we made many innocent mistakes that we learned from throughout the season and gained a lot of confidence as the season progressed! That shows a lot of promise for next year’s team!” Jaden also commented on how the girls played: “I think as a whole, especially in the first two sets, we played our best. We kind of lost our confidence in the rest of the game. For next year I think we can work on moving our feet, talking a little more and just staying positive throughout the whole game.” Come see the High School boys and girls first basketball game on December 1st!
