Night of Christmas Music and Lights

Luke Swanson

December 14, 2017

On December 7, 2017, all the Silver Lake Elementary students kindergarten through sixth grade started arriving to the elementary gym for the annual Christmas Concert. The fifth grade band played “Jolly Old St. Nicolas” and “Good King Wenceslas.”

The sixth grade band followed their performance playing “We Wish You A Merry Christmas” and “Holiday Medley.” Music Director Calyn Schulte thought, “The kids worked really hard on their songs and their preparation and excitement showed that night.  I am very proud of the students and all that they have accomplished.” Both classes played two songs that they have spent months practicing for. After the soothing sounds of the band, the classes sang two songs each which included: Kindergarten - “Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer” and “Oh Christmas Tree,” First Grade- “White Christmas” and “Rockin Around the Christmas Tree,” Second Grade: “Let It Snow” and “Feliz Navidad,” Third Grade- “Silver Bells” and “Jingle Bells,” Fourth Grade- “Jolly Old St. Nicolas” and “Deck The Halls,” Fifth Grade- “Holly Jolly Christmas” and “Here We Come A Caroling,” Sixth Grade- “Silent Night” and “Little Saint Nick.” A couple of lucky students got to play a brief song on the steel drums. Once they finished, each and every class gathered in front of the the stage for the finale. The lights went out and the the elementary finished the concert with a light show with colors of red, green, white and blue. The kids’ favorite- Santa- was there at the end, giving all the kids bags of candy and listening to what they want for Christmas.
