Warming Up with Good Music

Julie Jones

January 08, 2018

On Monday, December 18, the Silver Lake junior high and high school choirs along with the Mustang band showcased their talent for the Winter concert. The junior high choir songs included “Hot Chocolate,” “A Carol Tapestry,” “Sing with the Angels,” “I’m Too Old For Christmas” and ended with a reprise of “Hot Chocolate”; the high school choir sang a different version of “Hot Chocolate,” “Holiday Road,” “Getting Ready for the Holidays,” and “Jazz Gloria.” The high school men also sang their own song “We’re the Men,” and the band performed “Christmas Concert Opener” and “Christmas Carillon” for a great end to the Winter concert. Choir and band director Calyn Schulte put in her thoughts on the night saying, “The concert went very well. The students worked very hard on their music and delivered it with a holiday spirit.” Mrs. Schulte wanted a change-up from the usual ‘punch and cookies reception’ and decided to make some hot chocolate to keep the theme going throughout the night. The students and families enjoyed the change and look forward to what the Spring concert will have in store.
