Create Cheer

Julie Jones

January 10, 2018

The 26th annual Cheer Clinic was held on January 2. This year’s theme was “Create Cheer.” During the clinic, cheerleaders Elizabeth Trausch, Jaden Lewis, Madison Miller, and Sierra Watts-Hofstetter along with cheer helpers Jade Doremus, Alyssa Schmidt, and Brooke Donner taught the PK-2 and 3-6 graders cheers, chants, and a dance that they would perform during the halftime of the boys and girls’ games against Blue Hill on Friday, January 5. The girls also got to interact with both the home and away team fans for “We’ve Got Spirit” and hand out lifesavers to the rowdiest fans.

In order to incorporate the “Create” theme, the girls got to create their own goodie bags, decorate cookies, and draw some pictures for parents. The PK-2nd graders had their own activity while the 3-6th graders created a spin-off of their own routines. Co-Captain Trausch added her thoughts on the clinic: “It was nice to see the little girls and future cheerleaders with such big smiles on their faces when they got to cheer and to see each and every one of their individual personalities come out throughout the day and also while they were cheering during the games. I enjoyed seeing them have so much fun cheering.”
