Running to the Finish

On Wednesday, April 17, the junior high track team went to Franklin. Starting with the girls, Katelynn Karr placed fifth in the 100-meter dash and shot put along with fourth in long jump. Madelyn Strong placed fourth in the 800 and in the 1600 meter run. Brooklyn Meyer placed fourth in the 200-meter dash and in the high jump. Amanda Ehrman took home second in triple jump with a jump of 29-03.25. Reagan Rust placed sixth in the 400-meter dash and in the 100-meter hurdles. Josi Sharp placed second in high jump along with teammate Kiersten Kober who placed sixth. Georgi tenBensel placed third in the 400 meter-dash, first in the 1600 meter run with a time of 6:37, and second in the 200-meter hurdles. The girl’s 4x100 placed fourth with the team consisting of Ehrman, Meyer, Rust, and Sharp, and the girl’s 4x400 placed first with the team of Karr, Kober, tenBensel, and Strong. Coach Henkel said, “I think we competed really well. We had a lot of girls get PR's which is what we want to see! I'm excited for the TVC track meet because we will get a full week of practice which we haven't had for awhile. If the girls keep working hard and want to get better, we are going to see a lot of great things in the future track meets!”

For the boys, Jake Knehans placed fifth in the triple jump and in the 800-meter run. The boy’s 4x100 which consisted of Eric Blythe, Taiton Trausch, Brock Karr, and Logan Shockey placed fourth. The boy’s 4x400 which consisted of Knehans, Jacob Borgman, Cody Pankoke, and Max Hammer placed fourth.
