Philosophy of Education |
I have had the great pleasure of teaching at three wonderful schools over the last eight years. My first job was at Goodrich Middle School in Lincoln, Nebraska. I taught 7th Grade Math and Science. I was there for two years. I then took a job at Axtell Community Schools teaching 5th-8th Grade Language Arts and 6th Grade Homeroom. I taught there for three years. I have enjoyed the three schools that I have had the opportunity to be a part of over the last eight years. I have learned a lot from the different experiences that each school, staff, student, and community have given me. Each one has been different and allowed me to grow as a person and a teacher. One of those experiences that sticks out in my mind happened at my first teaching job in Lincoln. This teaching job was a big change for me since I had graduated with a class of 57 students and was now teaching a 7th grade class of about 300 students. Another change was that I had several students that had moved from different countries and English was their second language. I really enjoyed getting to know those students and learning about their life prior to living in the United States and about the families they had left behind. I had a student from Afghanistan who was in my class the year of 9-11. It was interesting to follow his family and learn about the struggles they were going through during that horrible time. |

My husband Todd and I live between Bladen and Campbell on his family farm. We have a daughter, Sydney, who will be 2 years old in March of 2008. We are expecting another child at the end of March.
I enjoy spending time with family and friends, helping my husband on the farm, reading books, gardening, and spending time playing with my daughter. |
