Philosophy of Education

I believe that young children learn best through play.  In my classroom, three and four year olds have hands on opportunities to explore their surroundings and experience a variety of domains throughout the day.  Some may think it looks like a lot of fun and games, but the children are actually learning important lessons as they play.  During our daily routine, you can observe my class in a variety of activities.  Learning to sit patiently at Circle Time, gaining basic math skills by building houses in the Block Area and mastering fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination in the Art Area are just a few of the activities we work on.

I entered the education profession because like most teachers, I love working with children.  I chose Early Childhood because it is so gratifying to witness a young child accomplish such little tasks that we take for granted, such as learning to tie their shoe for the first time or recognizing their name in print.

Personal Information

My husband, Trevor, and I have two daughters, Katelyn and Kamille.  We enjoy spending time together, especially by going camping and boating.  I also enjoy scrapbooking, reading, traveling, and being outside.
