Partnering Up for Partners In Hope

Julie Jones

April 09, 2018

On Thursday, March 29, eight National Honors Society students along with NHS sponsor Mrs. Heldt traveled to Kearney and volunteered for the two-day Y102 St. Jude’s Radio-A-Thon. The NHS students left the High School at 8:00 and answered phone calls of those who wanted to become Partners in Hope- donating $20 a month- from 9:00 until noon. Students attending included Mark Thurston, Kinsley Mankhey, Julie Jones, Alex Ehrman, Johnny Borgman, Adrian Crumm, Brooke Kamler, and Taran Hanson. Thurston, Hanson, Kamler, and Jones were even featured on the noon NTV News. The money donated during this event goes to St. Jude’s Research Hospital and allows them to provide services without families having to pay a dime. This year brought a new record for the Radio-A-Thon of $307,021- up $6,021 from last years donation. Kamler commented on the event: “This was a great experience for me and the others because it shows that we are out in our communities and shows that we will help anyone in need. I’m glad I got to have this experience because I hope to do this in the future.”
