First Outdoor Meet Of The Season

On Saturday, March 24, the high school track team went to Wilcox-Hildreth to compete in the season’s first outdoor track meet. Thirteen other teams competed including Franklin, Axtell, Arapahoe, Giltner, Wilcox-Hildreth, Alma, Loomis, Red Cloud, Bertrand, Elm Creek, Amherst, Twin Loup, and Overton.

Makayla Dinkler placed second in long jump with a jump of 15 feet 5 ¼ inches and got fifth in the 200m dash with a time of 28.9. Mark Thurston also took home a medal placing sixth in long jump with a jump of 18 feet 5 inches and Madison Miller placed fifth in the mile with a time of 6:13. Coach Conroy had this to say about the meet: “They did really well and a lot of them cut down time for their first outdoor meet and they are usually cold and windy but competed well for the condition.”
