With homecoming spirit filling the halls and some friendly competition between the 7-12 classes, homecoming week was a great success that included many memories for all. Senior Taran Hanson gathered his thoughts to say this about his senior homecoming week, “Homecoming week is always one for the books but it is very bittersweet knowing it is your last year of the fun festivities.”

The week started back in the Ol’ West with cowboy boots, overalls, and flannels making their way into the building! Makayla Dinkler even saddled up her horse and skipped the bus ride to get a real feel of the western life.  Eager to be the class winner of the day, the freshmen class gave 100% participation and were rewarded first in the lunch line and a full day of bragging rights. Homecoming candidates were also voted during lunch, with the outcome being: Lexi Allen, Brooke Kamler, Elizabeth Trausch, Quinn Kilmer, Alex Ehrman, Johnny Borgman, Taylor Nabower, and Taran Hanson.

Tuesday was a day of remembrance of those who lost their lives from the tragic event that happened on 9/11 seventeen years ago. The Silver Lake students and staff showed their American pride with a day dedicated to America as the dress up day was American Pride Day.

Tropical Day had everyone wishing they were laying on the beach soaking up some sun, but there just isn’t a place quite like Roseland, Nebraska. The teachers even had to wear sunglasses because their students were so bright!!

Color War always brings out the best competition between the classes and the Senior class came to school ready to sweep away a win! Bringing out a little bit of their dark side, they came dressed in all black to receive the win of the day! Thursday was full of Lipdub shenanigans and beach vibes from the elementary to set the mood. The elementary gave the high school a visit for the traditional Lipdub where students and staff gathered in the halls to show off their crazy side to a popular song everyone can get down to. This years song was titled “Cowboy Side of Me” by Clare Dunn. Go check it out at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vy

Friday was the day to show off some Mustang pride and had 100% participation between both students and staff. The day was a day of preparation for the big Homecoming game and royalty voting. The school day ended with a pep-rally full of fun games and awards were given. The homecoming week was wrapped up with the Homecoming football game, royalty crowning, where Lexi Allen and Alex Ehrman were crowned the 2018 Homecoming King and Queen, and the Homecoming dance where students danced the night away.
