We've got the rhythm

Cierra Mankhey

November 16, 2018

On Monday, November 5, the Silver Lake High School choir made their way to Deshler to show everyone their singing talent. The group left at 1:00 which they sang with 9 other schools that night after practicing all day long. The schools were Blue Hill, Deshler, Franklin, Harvard, Kenesaw, Lawrence-Nelson, Red Cloud, Shelton, and Silver Lake. The Mustangs were directed by music teacher, David Morrison. Each school was given the opportunity to show off their individual talents as a school. The Silver Lake choir sang “The Sound of Silence” arranged by Walter Ehret. After the schools that sang an individual song got done singing, everyone got back together as a group and sang “How Good” by Michael Engelhardt, “Come Travel With Me” by Scott Farthing, and last but not least, “The Cuckoo” arranged by Robert I. Hugh. The group was directed by Clayton Moyer. Clayton Moyer is the director of choirs at Kearney High School. Playing the piano for the night was Laura Pierce. Mr. Morrison put in his thoughts on how the night went and this is what he had to say: “I think the choir did a really good job singing "The Sound of Silence." Overall I believe Silver Lake students behaved and worked well for Mr. Moyer. The concert was fun to watch and listen to. It was a great day of singing with conference schools.”
