On Tuesday, February 5th, the Lady Mustangs traveled to Shelton to compete with the Bulldogs, hoping to gain another win to the season. The Mustangs started out super strong in the first quarter. They brought up 11 points while Shelton only scored 2; the Mustangs were on the roll. During the second quarter, they only scored 3 while our ladies gained 6 more points bringing the halftime score of the game to a total of Mustangs-17 Bulldogs-5.  During the second half, the Mustangs kept their momentum up and scored 13 more points over the Bulldogs. Elizabeth Trausch had an impressive 19 rebounds altogether on both offense and defense. Kerigan Karr shared her thoughts about the game, “We knew what was coming since we already played them in our Holiday Classic. It was an easy game, but I wish I would have scored more points than I was hoping to.”

On Thursday, February 7th, the Lady Mustangs also traveled to Giltner to take on the Hornets. As the team remembered from last year, this game would be a tougher match for them, but that didn’t stop them. During the first quarter, the Lady ‘Stangs came out strong, scoring 13 points against the Hornets. The first quarter score was Mustangs-13 Hornets-5. During the second quarter, the Hornets kept struggling to gain points as they only scored 8 points and the Mustangs scored 11 more. The halftime score for the game was Mustangs- 24 Hornets- 13. As the third quarter began, Giltner came out playing stronger than the first half. The third quarter score ended with Mustangs-35 Hornets-23. During the fourth quarter, the Mustangs scored 8 more points as the Hornets scored 11. The final score for the game was Mustangs- 43 Hornets- 36. Abbie Skupa had the most points, totaling up to 19 points. Trausch had the most rebounds in the game again, with a total of 12 on both offense and defense. She shared her thoughts about the game, “We knew it was going to be a tougher game and we came in with a mentality of working hard and working together. And it paid off in the end.”

On Friday, February 8th, the Meridian Mustangs arrived at Silver Lake’s home court to take on the Lady Mustangs on Senior Night. Senior Elizabeth Trausch was announced before to honor her for her last home game as with Senior Cheerleader Quinn Kilmer. The bleachers were packed with fans as the game started. During the first quarter, Meridian scored 12 points against the Lady Mustangs. The score for the first quarter ended up being Silver Lake-8 Meridian- 12. As the second quarter started, Silver Lake picked up their intensity a little more and scored a total of 11 points against Meridian. The halftime score for this game was Silver Lake- 19 Meridian-20, only leaving Silver Lake down by 1 point. During halftime, Silver Lake honored and recognized the 10-year anniversary for the 2008-2009 Girls Basketball State Runner-Up team and the 9-year anniversary of the 2009-2010 Girls Basketball State 3rd Place Team hosted by Coach Crowe. When the third quarter started up, Silver Lake came out with the same momentum they had in the first half. The third quarter score was Silver Lake- 9 Meridian- 11. As the fourth quarter began, Silver Lake knew they needed to gain a few more points to beat Meridian. It was a tough quarter for our Lady’s as they only scored 10 more points on them, not scoring enough to win the game. The final score for the game was Silver Lake- 38 Meridian-42. Skupa led the team with 18 points and Trausch led the team with 11 rebounds total. Skupa shared her thoughts about the game, “We came out with a good mentality and executed as Drake told us to. Meridian just hit more shots and we couldn’t make up for it when it came to the end.” Katelyn Karr also shared her thoughts about the game, “It was a good matchup, we both played very hard. But in the end, our shots weren’t falling as theirs were.”
