Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!  The students of Silver Lake Elementary spent February 25-28 celebrating Dr. Seuss’s birthday.  The week began with Mismatched Monday as the students arrived at school wearing some pretty wacky outfits.  Many in crazy colors, mismatched clothing, and even clothes on backwards!  That afternoon they enjoyed a hoop hop showdown with rock paper scissors.  The gym was electric with cheers of support for one another as they tried to reach the end of the hula hoops.  One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish was the theme for Tuesday.  As you walked the halls of the elementary, you would find girls dressed in red and boys dressed in blue.  Go fish was the game of the day!  How could we have a Dr. Seuss week without showing some love for the Grinch?  Wednesday was Merry Grinchmas.  Students came dressed in green for the Grinch or dressed as their favorite Seuss character.  Throughout the week sixth-grade students entertained the group with reader’s theaters of Seuss books.  On this day we also played musical books.  On our final day of celebration, we ate green eggs and ham with our parents and other welcomed guests!  Cozy in our pajamas we wrapped up the week with a showing of the new Grinch movie.  Our Seuss celebration was a success!
