First Track Meet for the Mustangs Was A Success

On March 26th, the Mustang track team traveled to Red Cloud for their first meet of the season. Red Cloud set up this meet for the surrounding schools due to other meets getting canceled or postponed. The Mustangs were excited to hear they could finally get their first meet in and compete. The girl's team had a successful day and brought home multiple medals at the end of the day. Junior, Makayla Dinkler placed 1st in both long jump, with a jump of 15 feet 11 ½ inches and high jump with a jump of 4 feet 8 inches. For running events, Dinkler also placed 3rd in the 200-meter dash. Sophomores Madison Miller and Kerigan Karr placed in their events also. Miller placed 2nd in the 3200-meter run and Kerigan Karr placed 4th in 800 meter and 3rd in 1600 meter run. The girls 4x100 meter relay team, consisting of Katelyn Karr, Emmy Freitag, Miller, and Amanda Ehrman, placed 4th. Then the girls 4x400 meter relay team, consisting of Katelyn Karr, Ehrman, Freitag, and Miller, placed 6th.

The Mustang boys also brought home multiple medals for their first meet of the season. Senior boys Alex Ehrman and Johnny Borgman, both medaled in triple jump. Ehrman placed 3rd with a jump of 37 feet 6 ¼ inches, while Johnny Borgman was right behind him in 4th place, with a jump of 37 feet 5 ¼ inches. Junior Zane Journey, placed in both his events of discus and shot. In discus, his throw ended with an impressive 114 feet 8 inches placing him in 2nd. In shot, Journey was able to bring home a 5th place medal with a throw of 36 feet 7 inches. Sophomore Lane Parr was able to run away with his 5th place medal in the 3200-meter run. The boys 4x100 meter relay team, consisting of Ehrman, Borgman, Journey, and Luke Swanson brought home 3rd place. In the last event of the day, the Mustang boys were able to bring home a 6th place medal in the 4x800 meter relay. These runners consist of Taran Hanson, Parr, Matthew Hansen, and Brock Karr. All in all, the day was a successful and great start to the Mustang track season.
