Mustangs Compete at Blue Hill Invite

On Tuesday, April 16, the Silver Lake Mustang track team traveled all the 10 miles it took to Blue Hill to compete. They competed against seven other teams and came home with quite a few medals. The girl's team had a successful day. Both Makayla Dinkler and Katelyn Karr placed in Long Jump. Makayla placed 1st, with a jump of 16ft, while Katelyn Karr placed 2nd, with a jump of 14ft. Makayla also placed 1st in High Jump, with a jump of 4ft. 11in. Kerigan Karr placed in both her events, earning 2nd in the 800-meter run and 5th in the 1600 meter run. Dinkler placed 2nd in the 200-meter dash. The girls 4x1 relay, including Katelyn Karr, Emmy Freitag, Trista Hanson, and Amanda Ehrman placed 2nd. The girls 4x1 weight relay, including Jenna Strampher, Brooke Kamler, Julie Jones, and Hanson placed 6th. To end the day, the girls 4x4 relay, including Katelyn Karr, Ehrman, Freitag, and Kerigan Karr placed 4th.

The boy's team had many medalists as well. Alex Ehrman placed 5th in Long Jump with a jump of 18ft. 5in. Johnny Borgman placed 4th in Triple Jump with a jump of 36ft. 11in. Zane Journey placed 5th in Discus, with a throw of 105ft. 2in. For running events, Lane Parr placed 5th in the 3200-meter run with a time of 12:00 minutes. Luke Swanson placed in both his events, earning 4th place in the 110 meter high hurdles and the 300-meter hurdles. All relay teams did excellent as well. The 4x1 relay team, including Ehrman, Borgman, Swanson, and Journey placed 3rd. The 4x1 weight relay team, including Tommy Grimes, Marcos Gomez, Casey Cassell, and Michael Trausch placed 4th. The 4x4 relay, consisting of Ehrman, Matthew Hansen, Oakley Rosno, and Borgman placed 6th. The 4x8 relay team consisting of Hansen, Parr, Max Hammer, and Taran Hanson finished 5th place. Ehrman stated what he thought about the meet: “I’m proud of the team in the overall team performance. It was nice to see multiple people place in numerous events. It was also fun to see people perform events they’ve never tried before. I had fun “flying” through the air and into the sand pit.” Overall, the track team had a “trackific” day.
