Bearing the cold and heavy winds, the High School track team traveled to Sandy Creek to compete at the TVC competition hosted by Lawrence-Nelson. Silver Lake competed against eight other teams including Shelton, Blue Hill, Red Cloud, Kenesaw, Franklin, Harvard, Lawrence-Nelson, and Deshler.

To start off the morning in the girls long jump, Makayla Dinkler placed first with a jump of 15’ 5” and also placed second in the high jump with a leap of 4’6”. Katelyn Karr also had a good day placing fourth in long jump with a jump of 13’ 2”. It was also a great morning for both Johnny Borgman and Alex Ehrman in the triple jump. Ehrman placed fourth in triple jump and Borgman was right behind him placing fifth. Zane Journey was also very excited being the conference champ in the discus with a throw of 119’ 6”.

The afternoon was a struggle for the runners as the wind had picked up and made it hard to run, but Silver Lake pushed through and still found success with the running events. Dinkler placed first in the 200 with a time of 27.31 seconds. Kerigan Karr placed fifth in the 1600 meter run as she endured the struggle of running against some tough wind. Madison Miller, after being out for a month due to an injury, came back to an intense meet and placed sixth in the 3200 meter run. The girl's 400 meter relay and 1600 meter relay teams consisting of Katelyn Karr, Emmy Freitag, Trista Hanson, Amanda Ehrman, and Kerigan Karr placed fifth in both events. The boys 3200 meter relay brought home sixth-place with the team including Matthew Hansen, Lane Parr, Max Hammer, and Taran Hanson with a time of 11:39.
