Silver Lake FFA Takes A Trip To Husker Harvest Days

Samantha Bonifas

September 17, 2019

Members of the Silver Lake FFA Chapter traveled to Husker Harvest Days, the world’s largest working farm show, on September 11. The show, located in Alda, Nebraska, recently had a $7.5 million facility upgrade. Dyna-Grow Seed sponsored the chapter and gave students a free t-shirt and lunch. Throughout the day, students completed a scavenger hunt that was provided by UNL. The goal of the hunt was to communicate with 9 different agricultural businesses about new technology or technique in agricultural and their job. Freshman, Kassi Jones, commented that “We learned a lot about agricultural businesses whether it was marketing, seed corn, or planting trees to prevent soil erosion.” After that, the team of up to 4 students took a picture with the professional that they spoke to. When the task was finished, students were given a free t-shirt from UNL.  Jones said her favorite part of the day was spending time with friends and participating in fun activities.
