Lady Mustangs Rebound to Earn Two Victories

Kate Baker

October 02, 2019

The Lady Mustangs were looking to rebound after dropping a few games when they travelled to Harvard on Tuesday night for a double triangular. Their defeat over Wilcox-Hildreth and Elba was just what the Mustangs needed. The Mustangs struggled to gain momentum in the first set, and eventually fell to the Falcons 25-23. However, they found their rhythm in the next two sets to defeat the Falcons with set scores of 25-21 and 25-9. Led defensively my junior Madison Miller  with a season high of 21 digs, the Mustangs were able to find success. Junior Kerigan Karr moved the ball around, which sparked the offense. Freshman Georgi tenBensel found success in her cross court shot, putting away 12 kills. Sophomore Amanda Ehrman added 7 of her own kills to help lead the Mustangs to victory.

Next, the Mustangs took on the Blue Jays from Elba, securing a two set win with scores of 25-19 and 25-13. tenBensel led the team in kills with 6. Senior Makayla Dinkler, junior Seirra Watts-Hofstetter, and sophomore Amanda Ehrman all added 6 a piece. The Mustangs tallied 19 aces, with Ehrman earning 6 herself. Freshman Josi Sharp aided the Mustangs on defense with a solo block. The Mustangs better their record to 12-7 on the season. They have some time off and will host Southern Valley on Thursday, October 10 in Roseland.
