October 28, 2019

Going into the Twin Valley Conference volleyball tournament, the number 2 seeded Mustangs knew they would need to bring their A-game with a very competitive bracket. To start the day, the Mustangs took on Franklin, whom they had just fallen to previously in the week. Silver Lake came out fighting, but unfortunately dropped the two sets 25-22 and 25-16. Sophomore Amanda Ehrman, who led the team in assists with 9, was able to find junior Seirra Watts-Hofstetter on the outside with the hot hand, putting away 7 kills to lead the offense. Defensively, freshman Georgi tenBensel picked up 14 digs to hold the Flyers to 19 kills. With the loss, the Mustangs moved on to face Harvard in the match-up for fifth and sixth place.

The Mustangs came out strong against Harvard, leading almost the entire first set. Unfortunately, the Cardinals fought back to secure the first set 25-23. Silver Lake fought to extend the game to three sets, coming back in the second to win 25-16. Unfortunately, the Mustangs fell in the third set 25-15 to take home sixth place. tenBensel and senior Makayla Dinkler controlled the net play with 13 and 11 kills respectively. Watts-Hoftstetter followed closely behind with 9 herself. Sophomore libero Katelyn Karr picked up 16 digs with tenBensel following with 14. Ehrman and junior Kerigan Karr added 17 and 16 assists respectively. Both Ehrman and tenBensel earned double-doubles for the game; Ehrman earned it with digs and assists and tenBensel earned hers with digs and kills. The Mustangs look ahead to finish out their regular season play in the following week.
